Because the Ubisurfer mobile internet netbook has been designed with one particular purpose in mined. That purpose is allowing you to read this article… Ohhh… Aghhh.. No its not some fancy gizmo glasses, it has been designed to allow you to surf the internet, from virtually anywhere. It does this through a multitude of methods.

Firstly, you can link it up old school with an Ethernet cable (or USB) and access the web through the physical media of, wire. Secondly, it comes WiFi enabled allowing you to access the web through any WiFi hot spot. Finally, this clever little beast comes Sim Enabled with a 1 years subscription to Videophones 1800 surf package. This allows you to surf the net for 1800 minutes a month from anywhere that receives a mobile signal. This 1 year subscription is included in the price of the Ubisurfer and only costs £29.99 to renew for a second year.
The device itself measures in at a palm pleasing 2.21 x 13.8 x 3cm. This does not make it the smallest gadget on the market but it is impressive when you look at what it contains. The 7 inch screen displays at 800 x 480 pixels, the 128mb of ram makes surfing allot quicker and the 1 GB of onboard storage can be extended thanks to the external SD card slot. There is also 3 expansion USB ports, headphone and microphone jacks and a fully functioning QWERTY keyboard and track pad.
Why do I want it?
If you don’t like the internet, then this is probably not the gadget for you. However, if you like surfing the web and want to do it on the move, this could be the answer. We used to be restricted to using our mobiles or carrying our laptop and dongle around if we wanted to access the net while out and about.

Imagine being board on a train and you wanted to peruse GFM’s latest gadget review, not a problem with the Ubisurfer in your pocket. Off travelling around the world? Throw one of these in your rucksack and you will never have to look for an internet cafĂ© again. Upload your new pictures and let everyone see what/who you are doing and how much fun you are having doing it.
You can also keep your social networking status (Facebook, Twitter) updated from anywhere that receives a mobile signal. Another huge bonus is that because the operating system is Linux based, you also can use and MS office style suit for spreadsheets/typing and use other onboard programs as well. This makes the Ubisurfer a lot more versatile than we expected making it quite an effective palmtop PC as well.
So if you fancy being able to access the internet from work, home or play, then get yourself an Ubisurfer mobile internet netbook today and never be more than a minuet away from a net fix.

Walkie Talkie Watches

What are They?
It doesn’t take a genius to work out what Walkie Talkie Watches could be. Yes. you guessed it…. Its two watches that double up as walkie talkies. Granted, the first thing we thought was “a walkie talkie in a watch! That’ll be poo, as it will have no range, eat batteries, have no functions and be seriously fiddly/difficult to use”. So naturally we had to have a closer look. At first glance we were surprised by the size. They are oversized, compared to a Casio watch, but not as much as you might think. The face of the “watch” only measures in at 7 x 6 x 2.5cm and when you consider that the aerial can be folded in and out when needed it is surprisingly small. The next thing we noticed was that they come with an AC adapter and earpiece each. So the AC adapter means no replacing batteries, Bonus! And the AC adapter means no batteries necessary, double bonus!

A big grey power button brings the wrist pleaser to life and shows you the time on the large backlit screen. Now this is where the watch really starts to show its true colours. It comes with 22 channels, each with its own sub-channels, meaning you would have to be seriously unlucky to cross connections with a stranger. Once the aerial is flicked out and you have used the built in channel scan to find its counterpart, you can start to talk to each other.
There is no messy pressing of buttons to speak and calling everyone “Charlie, over” as the units are voice activated! It even has an incoming call alert to tell you that the other person wants to chat to you and the earpieces have a built in PTT button. This makes them seriously easy to use and while out and about they become almost instinctively simple.
These are all very good points but they are not our favourite. Our biggest pre concern about the walkie talkie watches was that the range was going to be about as far as you could see, in the dark, when drunk. How wrong could we have been? The main trick that these gadgets possess is that they have a range of 5km! That’s further than I can see in the day, sober, and with some really good glasses. We have learnt our lesson not to pre-judge a book by its proverbial cover…
Why do want it?
If the idea of walkie talkie watches with a 5km range does not interest you then this probably is not the website for you. We did not have to think hard to see a number of possible applications that these little gadgets could help with. This could range from the most obvious uses, like outdoor activities with friends (hiking, mountain biking, paint balling) to the more social or quirky (stay in contact with a friend at work/school, communicate between cars on a road trip, keep in contact with a co-worker while on a job) these brilliant watches could really make life easier.
Our favourite thoughts were of organising calculated battle manoeuvres while out paintballing. Keeping in close communication with the rest of your army could lead to perfectly timed attacks on your unsuspecting victims. TAKE NO PRISONERS! Fancy something for serene? Another helpful use was brought up by a member of the team who loves biking. Thanks to the earpiece and wrist mounted position it would be easy to communicate with other members of your party while on the road and would allow you to pass on words of encouragement or, most probably, abuse.
The final surprise is the price! We could not believe that such great bits for gadget tech were going for so little. Check out the Walkie Talkie Watches price tag today and be as pleasantly surprised as we were. If we did not sell it to you please watch the video below and let a random American shopping channel sell it to you in their typical fashion…

Orange Power Wellies

The 2010 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is scheduled to take place in June 23-28, and these boots are made for walking during it, apparently.
According to a Press Release, these are the Orange Power Wellies, and they were created in collaboration with renewable energy experts GotWind for “a unique power generating sole” that converts heat from the feet into electricity.
Say what now? You mean that all that sweaty feet can be used to power something like a mobile device? Apparently so. In fact, about 12 hours of stomping around can give enough of a charge a mobile phone for about an hour. You want more power, then you had better get your feet moving. Seriously, the hotter your feet get, the more power you can make.
This apparently uses the “Seebeck” effect with thermoelectric modules constructed of P-type and n-type semiconductor materials to make a thermocouple. “When the heat from the foot is applied on the top side of the ceramic wafer and cold is applied on the opposite side, from the cold of the ground, electricity is generated.”
It doesn’t look like these will be available to buy, but it looks like the Orange Chill n Charge area will be at the Glastonbury festival. I guess you can check it out there.

Bomb Timer looks cute

Want a timer that will add a sense of urgency to all your tasks? This is where the $10 Bomb Timer comes in handy – don’t worry, it won’t be able to elicit feelings of tension as in the Hurt Locker, but it ought to help you speed up your tasks since it looks as though it might blow any time soon. Capable of keeping track of time for up to an hour, it ought to be perfect for those who want an interesting conversation piece for a timer. One word of advice though – we would strongly recommend you against carrying this on board all of your flights, lest you don’t mind being detained indefinitely while getting questioned from a variety of angles concerning non-existant terrorist links in your life.

Cross Spy Camera

This is one of those gadgets that you’d have to be a bit on the goth side in order for this to work.  After all, if you’re in a business type attire then a chunky black cross is going to appear just a bit on the strange side.  Which would make the gadget absolutely pointless since its whole purpose is to be stealthy and catch people in the act.

Now if you do tend to wear darker clothing, then this would work just fine.  You could catch people doing their devious acts without them ever catching on.  It takes 30 FPS videos and has 4GB of memory to store the videos on.  You can use it to blog all of the boring details of your life or even capture live sporting or theater events.  Just pick one up for $37.60 through Chinavasion.

iHome iP49 Portable Rechargeable Audio System for iPhone and iPod

The iHome iP49 Portable Rechargeable Audio System for iPhone and iPod is the latest speaker dock to hit the market, as if there aren’t enough of these running around the market already. This will be a first for iHome in terms of it being a portable offering from the newly minted Studio Series which offers Bongiovi Acoustics’ Digital Power Station technology – the name alone ought to conjure up aural images of top notch quality, don’t you think so? Apart from that, the iP49 is also iHome’s first portable alarm clock radio that sports a rechargeable battery which enables users to enjoy hours of music just about any where and at any time without having to worry about its battery running flat – as long as you start off with a full charge, of course.

Just how much juice do you think this model is able to deliver? Well, the iP49 Portable Rechargeable Audio System with Alarm Clock Radio for iPhone/iPod offers 20 watts of quality power right out of the box which ought to be more than enough to keep a small room well drenched in audio, and with its compact folding design, it is more or less the perfect companion for frequent travelers who require both substance and style in all their devices. With the use of patented DPS technology, it will constantly scan program material in real time, while effectively improve transients and harmonics to result in amazing highs, incredible lows as well as perfect clarity across virtually all frequencies and volume levels.
As with any other self-respecting iPod or iPhone dock, this model also doubles up as a charger when your device is docked. You can choose to listen to your custom playlist, or enjoy its integrated FM radio if you actually ran out of actual songs to listen to. Apart from that, you can also set a variety of alarm settings, where you can choose from weekend, daily or weekly settings to suit your busy lifestyle. Good to know that iHome has also thrown in a remote control for those who are too lazy to get up from their La-Z-Boy couch. Expect the iP49 to retail for $159.99 each.

GPS Tracker Phone for Kids

Keeping track of your little ones can get quite challenging in this day and age, especially when you are a busy parent who has tons to juggle, unlike the older days where there weren’t that many distractions. If you happen to bring your kids out often, the GPS Tracker Phone for Kids could just be the thing for you. This is a back-to-basic cellphone that targets not only children but seniors as well, relying on the latest GPS tracking technology. It allows one to make phone calls only when needed, where you can program 5 preset numbers within including 1 emergency SOS number, and there is no worry of Internet predators targeting children since this has no text messaging or Internet surfing capability. Inside lies a GPS tracker that lets you keep track of its real time position by sending a text message to the tracker phone anytime required. You can also set a geo-fence zone to prevent your little ones from venturing beyond a certain area by being alerted. Of course, nothing beats due diligence on a parent’s part, but sometimes technology to the tune of $135 does help.

Touch Bionics announces brand new i-LIMB Pulse

Touch Bionics has just announced its latest bionic medical device that ought to stoke the hearts of those looking for an unprecedented, agile yet affordable (relatively speaking, of course) bionic hand known as the i-LIMB Pulse. This will be the next logical as well as evolutionary step forward from the i-LIMB Hand, which incidentally was the first commercially available bionic hand in the world for the masses. The i-LIMB Pulse proves to be a significant advance for the i-LIMB product line, where users will be able to take advantage of a host of enhancements such as pulsing grip strength, software-enabled grip patterns and robust aluminium features for improved strength.

The i-LIMB Pulse certainly has a long pedigreed line which in the past joins a family of products that has been fitted to more than 1,200 patients worldwide. The i-LIMB Pulse is now another option for folks who want something better than the current i-LIMB Hand, where both products are made available to customers depending on the patients’ preferences. Of course, being newer, you can be sure that the i-LIMB Pulse has taken Touch Bionics’ past experiences in the marketplace to come up with a trailblazer of bionic technology and clinical support.
The i-LIMB Pulse relies on Touch Bionics’ patented pulsing technology that will offer increasing and controllable grip strength. Whenever the i-LIMB Pulse closes on an object, you will be able to opt to activate the pulsing feature to apply significant additional grip force, while enabling the device to grasp an object ever more tightly. Thanks to these high-frequency electronic pulses, users are able to indulge in everyday activities such as tying shoelaces or doing-up a belt in a jiffy. This could very well be a prelude to bionic human parts that we’ve seen Anakin Skywalker sport when he had his hand lobbed off by Count Dooku during his younger days, eh? The aluminium chassis enables the i-LIMB Pulse’s robust design to make it the toughest prosthetic device yet from Touch Bionics, where it can carry a load of up to 90kg.

Music For Deaf People Collar

The first time I learned Beethoven had a bit of a hearing problem, I was baffled as to how he managed to go on with his music career.  It’s been said that he listened through vibrations in the floor to discover different things like to find out if the audience really liked his work.  Using vibrations to “hear” isn’t an entirely uncommon concept for anyone who is deaf, which does still make this concept a little odd.  Then again, it’s not exactly far fetched either.  This collar is meant to give music to the deaf by using those vibrations to trigger the right area of the brain, allowing them to listen.

This collar was done by a German designer who wanted the deaf to be able to at least feel the music.  It converts auditory input into vibrations that trigger the same sound-processing area of the brain as someone with functioning hearing.  Whether or not it will really catch on is debatable, but it’s an interesting concept at the very least.

Mionix NAOS 3200 gaming mouse ups your game

Or so that is what it is supposed to do. The Mionix NAOS 3200 gaming mouse is the latest bad boy in town, where it is constructed out of purported “carefully selected high-end components.” Not too sure what those components are, but perhaps it is some sort of latent metal that might help provide a faster reaction in your neurons to shoot your opponent before he/she can register which button to press? Well, being a gaming mouse, the Mionix NAOS 3200 comes with standard bells and whistles such as High DPI (up to 3,200 resolution), internal memory that allows you to save various game settings to use it on other computers without having to go through the monotony of setting up the control schemes again, flashy LEDs to look menacing, an adjustable polling rate up to 1000MHz, and 7 buttons that offers added flexibility. It will retail for €55 – any takers?

HANNSsoccer TV

Usually when I see a small TV like this I think of kids rooms, but that’s not necessarily fair.  The serious sports fans could also get a great deal of enjoyment out of a TV with their favorite game for a frame.  Those of you who are soccer or football fans will like this HD TV.  It’s the best way to watch the big game if you don’t really want a massively sized screen or need something smaller for a spot like your garage.

Also with the same sports themes are monitors that feature soccer, basketball and baseball.  The TV itself has noise reduction, a sleep timer and two 10W speakers.  It has a contrast ratio of 10.000:1 and the screen measures 27.5 inches or 70 cm.  You can pick one up through HannSpree for 499,00 € or about $600.

t’Light can charge multiple gadgets

If you’re looking for the most talented light, which who wouldn’t be?!  Well then you’re in luck, because t’Light actually stands for the Most Talented Light.  Not only does this light illuminate your desk, but it also has a little love for your smaller electronics and cuts down on those obnoxious cords.  Don’t worry, it’s not just a concept design either, this one can actually be purchased.

On the top is a 3 watt LED lamp that can last about 50,000 hours worth of usage.  Then on the base itself there’s a handy little iPhone dock.  There’s also a jack powerful enough to power up your laptop and a USB port.  Besides the shiny metal look it comes in several other colors like red, black, a horribly bright green, pink, purple and more.  The whole thing can be purchased for $89.

Doctor Who TARDIS Talking Cookie Jar

Fans of Dr. Who will definitely find the Doctor Who TARDIS Talking Cookie Jar to be worth checking out, even more so when you have kids at home who prefer to spoil their appetite just before dinner by sneaking in a couple of cookies into their stomachs without you knowing. However, with the $26.99 Doctor Who TARDIS Talking Cookie Jar, it will emit authentic TARDIS sounds as long as there is enough juice in the trio of 1.5V G13 button cell batteries required to power it. Of course, you can also check out other Dr. Who merchandise that we've covered in the past just in case a cool cookie jar such as this isn’t enough

Tricod Solar Light Pot

Alright so you’re all set with lighting to go all aroung your garden and show off your house, but you need a little something extra for your patio.  This Tricod Orange Solar Bubble Light Pot would look great sitting out on your picnic tables.  It has the same look as a terra cotta pot, but mixes in a little bit of a whisical look with the cute bubbles cut out of it.

With it being meant for the great outdoors, it is of course water resistant.  Which means it can handle rain, but probably won’t do so well being dunked in the pool.  It has a solar panel to keep the included rechargeable Ni-Cd AAA battery up and running.  There is an on/off switch, when it’s on it will only kick on once it senses darkness.  To pick it up it’ll cost you $16.99 through Amazon.

Nokia New Touch-Screen Tablet?

Nokia, working with design and manufacturing partners on a new touch-screen tablet that could emerge as early as this fall? However, Nokia hasn’t announced any news in this regard.

TheStreet.com quotes Kumar as saying. “This is a new window, and Nokia had better be at the starting gate if and when the product category takes off.”

Nokia isn’t new to portable Internet devices, having in the last five years come out with the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet and subsequent N800, N810, and N900, not to mention the Nokia Booklet 3G Netbook.

It’s unclear whether the alleged Nokia tablet that’s getting ink Tuesday would be a follow-on to that line of devices or a more full-featured direct competitor to the iPad and HP Slate, as well as devices sure to come from the likes of Dell, Lenovo and any of the other companies eyeing tablet territory.

Facebook On Android Os

Facebook On Android Os

Facebook is the only Social network in the world that show such dedication to the mobile platform undoubtedly. After being a top app on the iTunes App Store for the iPhone & iPod Touch.

Facebook was also one of the first apps to be integrated inside the Palm Pre. Not losing any time and momentum Facebook is now all set to go official on the Android Market. The official Facebook app for Andriod couldn’t come at a better timer with a plethora of Android devices expected to be released in the coming months.

India is Developing its Own Operating System

Indian government is busy developing its own Operating System for computers, along with anti virus softwares. The India government has focused on the said softwares owing to the continual attacks on government sites and loss of data.

A lower level operating system and application software may be preferred to the advanced versions, which necessarily require access to internet for upgrades. The new software could be deployed in key departments that have been under constant cyber attacks.

No sensitive information will be stored on systems connected to the internet, while ministries and departments have been told to carry out regular IT systems audits. The government has also established a Crisis Management Plan against cyber attacks to be implemented by all central ministries, state governments and critical sectors.

Earlier CDAC developed an OS called BOSS, short for Bharat Operating System Solutions. The Indian Government has also invested in developing the famous $10 laptop, the ISRO Bhuvan, and a $200 million microprocessor
