Where2 GPS to be launched in Canada today

From today onwards, the Canadians will have the all new Where2 GPS system to help them with real-time traffic conditions and alerts along with Bluetooth capability. The equipment, called Where2, is built by Garmin, which is a leader in GPS navigation.

The Where2 Global positioning system, which is being rolled by Avis and Budget group, will be fully portable and will be available at rental locations on Canada from today onwards. Where2 GPS will be available from Avis at airport rental locations in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, St. Johns, and Halifax. Budget will offer Where2 GPS at the airport rental locations in Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City and Halifax.

What makes this debut a history is that Where2 will be the only GPS service provider in the Canadian highways which is available for rent. The Where2 system will alert the drivers about the traffic delays and will also help them with appropriate directions too.

The major features incorporated in the Where2 GPS system are Bluetooth hands-free calling capability, directions spoken in English, French, and a variety of other languages, 3-dimensional maps, a high-bright display and a high-sensitivity GPS receiver.

William Boxberger, vice president and general manager of Avis Budget Group, Canada, said, We are committed to enhancing the productivity of business travelers, and making leisure travel more convenient. In addition, as drivers use the new service they will enjoy the added safety benefit that comes from being able to keep their eyes on the road at all times since the directions are 'spoken' to the driver. We're very excited to introduce Where2 to Avis and Budget customers in Canada.".
